Getting here from Carteret
Two bridges, and why we would take the Outerbridge.
Carteret is one of the few places where you have a genuine choice of crossing. The Goethals Bridge is north of you and lands in Elizabeth-facing Staten Island; the Outerbridge Crossing is south, through Perth Amboy, and lands in Tottenville.
We are at the Tottenville end, so the Outerbridge is almost always the better run — Route 440 south takes you straight to it. Taking the Goethals means crossing most of Staten Island afterwards.
