Exfoliation & Fine Hair
Dermaplaning
A sterile blade, held flat, taking away the dead surface layer and the fine hair that dulls it. The smoothest your skin will feel, and the best your makeup will sit.
What it actually is
Two problems, one pass.
Dermaplaning solves two things at once. It removes the dead surface layer, like any good exfoliation, and it removes the fine vellus hair on the face — the soft down that is invisible until it catches the light or holds onto foundation.
It is done with a sterile blade held flat against taut skin and drawn across in short strokes. That sounds alarming and it is not: there is no pulling, no heat, nothing that stings. Most people find it oddly relaxing, and it is one of the few treatments where the result is complete the moment the appointment ends.
The persistent myth is that hair grows back thicker or darker. It does not. Vellus hair has a fixed type and cutting it does not change the follicle — it returns exactly as it was over the following weeks.
The appointment
60 minutes, start to finish.
Cleanse and dry
Skin has to be completely clean and completely dry — the blade needs a dry surface to work safely.
Section by section
Skin held taut, blade drawn in short controlled strokes across each area of the face.
Refine
Careful passes around the jaw, upper lip and hairline where hair is usually densest.
Feed the skin
A mask or serum, which absorbs unusually well now, then moisturiser and SPF.
Why people rebook it
What you should reasonably expect.
Immediate smoothness
The result is complete when you sit up. Nothing on this menu is more instant.
Flawless makeup
Foundation stops clinging to fine hair. This is the reason most people rebook.
Brighter skin
Removing hair and dead cells together makes skin reflect light properly again.
Better absorption
Serums reach skin instead of sitting on a layer of dead cells and down.
Being straight with you
When this is the right call — and when it isn't.
A good fit if
- Fine facial hair catches the light or holds your foundation
- You have an event and want the smoothest possible finish
- Your skin is dull and flat but not breaking out
- You want a result you can see the moment you sit up
Probably not, if
- You have active acne or pustules — a blade over inflamed skin will spread it
- You have coarse dark hair rather than fine down, which needs a different approach
- Your skin is currently sunburnt, broken or very reactive
We would genuinely rather move you onto the right treatment than take the booking for this one.
