Resurfacing Treatment

Microdermabrasion

Mechanical resurfacing. It lifts away the dead surface layer that makes skin look flat and feel rough, and it works on texture in a way that no cream applied on top of that layer can.

What it actually is

Taking the dull layer off, rather than covering it.

The outermost layer of your skin is largely dead cells on their way out. When they linger — and they linger more as you get older — skin looks grey, feels rough, and stops absorbing anything you apply. Microdermabrasion removes that layer mechanically, with controlled abrasion and suction.

The suction is doing a second job: it draws blood to the surface, which is why skin looks pink and awake immediately afterwards rather than merely smoother. Over a course of treatments the effect accumulates and reaches slightly deeper — fine lines soften, uneven patches even out, and shallow scarring becomes less noticeable.

It is a thirty-minute appointment and it is not relaxing in the way a European Facial is. It is a working treatment, and you book it for results rather than for the hour itself.

Microdermabrasion in progress

The appointment

30 minutes, start to finish.

Cleanse and assess

Skin must be completely clean and dry, and we check how reactive it is before choosing intensity.

Resurface

The handpiece passes across the face in sections, abrading and vacuuming in one movement.

Second pass

Where needed — around the nose, forehead or any patch of rougher texture.

Soothe and protect

Hydrating serum into freshly resurfaced skin, then SPF, which is not optional afterwards.

Why people rebook it

What you should reasonably expect.

Noticeably smoother

The change in texture is obvious to the touch the same day.

Brighter tone

Removing the dull layer does what no brightening serum applied over it can.

Products finally work

Whatever you use at home penetrates properly for the following week or so.

Better makeup finish

Foundation stops sitting in rough patches and settling into lines.

Being straight with you

When this is the right call — and when it isn't.

A good fit if

  • Your skin looks dull and feels rough despite exfoliating at home
  • You have shallow scarring or uneven texture you want to soften
  • Makeup sits badly and settles into fine lines
  • You want visible change and can commit to a short course

Probably not, if

  • You have rosacea, active acne or very reactive skin — this is too abrasive
  • You are using retinoids or acids and have not paused them
  • You are recently sunburnt or have been in strong sun this week

We would genuinely rather move you onto the right treatment than take the booking for this one.

Questions

What people ask before booking.

Does it hurt?
No. It feels like a firm, gritty vibration with a pulling sensation from the suction. Slightly odd the first time, but not painful.
How many will I need?
Texture and tone respond well to a course of five or six, spaced two to three weeks apart. A single session brightens, but it will not resolve texture on its own.
Will I peel afterwards?
No. That is the difference between this and a chemical peel — the surface layer is removed during the appointment rather than shedding over the following days.
Can I go out that evening?
Yes. There may be mild pinkness for an hour, and skin looks its best the next morning.
What must I avoid afterwards?
Direct sun for a few days, and retinoids or acids for about forty-eight hours. Sunscreen matters more than usual for the rest of the week.

Also worth considering

If Microdermabrasion isn't quite it.

Worth the six minutes over the bridge.

Call and tell us what your skin is doing. We will put you with the treatment that suits it — and say so plainly if that is not the one you had in mind.
